FAQ....Who can play?
Any kid that is in 1st thru 12th grade and resides within Tooele county is eligible to play in our program.I live outside of Grantsville or Tooele which program should I signup for?
It is up to you which program you register for. Whichever program you sign up for is where your practices will be held so we suggest you register in the city that is most convenient for you to take your child to and from practices. When are registrations?
Registrations begin on 6/1/2019 and continue until 11/16/19. A late fee of $20 will apply starting 11/17/19 and registrations will close 11/30/19 and no late registrations will be accepted. What is the fundraiser fee?
At the time of registration, everyone will be charged $20.00 fundraising fee Your coach will give you 10 raffle tickets to sell for $10 each; you get to keep all money you receive from selling your tickets. Here is an example as to how it can help you lower your basketball costs: If you have a 5th grader, to register would cost you $80 plus $20 totaling $100.00. You then get your 10 tickets to sell. Selling all those tickets would give you $100.00, money you get to keep and covers 100% of what you paid for basketball this year. If you don't want to sell the raffle tickets, simply fill out your information and turn them in for your chance at the prizes.
What does fundraising do for Grantsville Jr Jazz? Fundraising helps us replace old and tired equipment along with paying gym rental fees. Without it, registration would be far higher.
What is the volunteer fee and can I get that back?
The volunteer fee is a way to get more people involved in our program, unfortunately we have not had a lot of people volunteer in the past so we had to implement this new fee for the 2020 season. You can get your volunteer fee back by volunteering with our league in some of the following ways. Head coaching, Score keep 3 or more games, Volunteer to clean up after game day or ref 2 or more games.
Can my son or daughter or an older sibling volunteer to get my volunteer fee back?
No, the volunteer must be the participants legal parent or guardian.
Can I get a refund?
You can get a full refund minus $25 admin fee before we have tryouts. Once tryouts has happened no refunds will be issued. You can also buy registration insurance that enables you to get a refund back at any point in the season. See below for further details. What is Registration insurance?
After tryouts start you are no longer eligible for a refund unless you purchase this. This insurance covers sickness, injury (on or off the court), Moving. When purchasing this you will get 100% of the $80 registration fee.
Can I request my child to be on the same team as a friend or relative?
Requests can be made however this does not guarantee that your child will be on the same team as your request. The only time we guarantee a player will be on the same team is if they are siblings. What does registration fees include?
Your registration fees include. 7 game min, 1 reversible jersey, 2 Utah Jazz tickets, Utah Jazz team picture, Jazz discount card. Why does registration cost so much?
We try to keep costs to a minimum that is also why we do the fundraiser fee and raffle so every participant has the opportunity to play for free if they would like. Unlike larger cities which Youth programs are run through the City ours is not so we have to purchase insurance for the kids safety and also for the gyms we use for games and practices. Also in larger Cities they have the luxury of using rec centers for practice and games which significantly lowers the cost for those programs.
